Charcoal Fire Causes $70,000 In Damages

Improper discarding of charcoal was blamed for a grill fire that did an estimated $70,000 damage on Green Bay’s west side on Sunday afternoon.

Fire department crews were called to 1432 Beauchamp St. at 2:40 p.m. The fire damaged the detached garage, a house, a neighboring garage and two cars.

No one was injured in the blaze, which occurred about seven blocks north of Lambeau Field about a half-hour before the start of the game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.

Seven Fire Department units responded to the blaze.
