Steady Rain Continues To Cause Flood

MILO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- All of this heavy rain made travel a little more difficult Monday morning as a few roads had to be closed to traffic.
A stretch of the North Road in Newburgh was shut down after flood waters crept onto it. There were other roads in area communities that experienced minor flooding.
The rainy weather also caused some headaches for highway workers in Piscataquis County. The Pleasant River in Milo is one area officials say they'll be watching closely in the overnight hours.
"We've had about four inches of rain," said Jerry Cole, who is Milo's emergency manager, "They're expecting another one or two and between the snow melt and that rain...we could see a little bit of damage."
Cole added that the river also tends to experience flooding due to ice that can form in it this time of year. Officials say the ice can form natural dams that can result in a rush of water if they break. Due to milder temperatures Monday night, that is not likely to happen.
