CHICO, Calif. -- The Garden Walk Mall in downtown Chico had to be closed down Monday morning, due to an overnight flood. According to a business owner, the flood was caused by a broken pipe.
The business were just beginning to assess the damage Monday morning, and still weren't sure when they could reopen, Brenda Bergland, owner of Downtown Salon & Gallery, said early Monday.
Carpets and floors throughout the mall remained damp Monday, and water damage was extensive.
The stores will likely need to remain closed for at least a day, just as the final week before the Christmas gets underway.
