The most heavily damaged business was Galeria Mexico, which sells leather goods.
Battalion Chief Charles Tobias said it appears that an electrical fire started in Galeria Mexico and a fire sprinkler went off, putting out the flames. However, for an unknown reason, the fire department was not alerted to the blaze and the sprinkler ran all night long, flooding Galeria Mexico with hundreds of gallons of water.
The business next door, Family Town, also has extensive water damage. The total cost is still being tallied. Firefighters are still on the scene, helping to mop up the damage.
