Burst Pipe Threatens to Flood Homes

A major water main ruptured threatening to flood nearby properties in Cambridge last night.

A fire crew from the city was called at 11.16pm after reports that a burst pipe was causing flooding to the road in Ditton Lane.

A second pump was requested from Cambridge station and a third engine from Swaffham.

Crews used a motor pump and suction in order to prevent water from entering nearby properties.

At half past midnight the incident was under control and the mains had been turned off.

Cambridge Water also attended and fire crews had left the scene by 1am.
