SAN JOSE -- A fire that displaced a family of four in
San Jose on Wednesday night caused an estimated
$300,000 to $350,000 in damage, a fire department
spokesman said today.
The two-alarm fire was reported around 7 p.m. at
1969 Mayfield Ave., according to the fire
department. It was controlled at 8:10 p.m.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused
the fire, but it appears it started in the garage and
spread to the interior of the house, fire Capt. Chuck
Rangel said.
The family's dog was rescued from the home, Rangel
said.
None of the occupants were harmed but the home is
now uninhabitable, Rangel said.
