Flood Damage Total In Washington Nears $4million

EVERETT, Wash. -- Officials say the bill from flooding last month in Snohomish County is approaching $4 million.

The county was among the hardest-hit areas after heavy rains soaked much of Western Washington. However, county officials tell The Daily Herald of Everett that far less damage occurred than in the downpours of two years ago.

The county is continuing to add up the flood costs. Rob Harper, a spokesman for Washington's Emergency Management Division, says state and federal teams plan to visit Western Washington counties next week to verify whether they can qualify for a federal disaster declaration and aid for residents.
