Flooding Shuts Down Two Busy California Courtrooms

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Two of the busiest courtrooms in San Jose were closed on Monday after being flooded out over the Christmas holiday.

Rainwater leaked into the basement of the Santa Clara County courthouse where lawyers, suspects and relatives typically meet.

County officials say a pair of pumps failed and a faulty sensor allowed at least an inch of water to build up. There's an estimated $50,000 in damage.

Many of Monday's cases had to re-assigned.

Those two courtrooms might not re-open until next week.
