Apartment Fire Causes $12,000 of Damage

A fire Wednesday morning in an apartment building at 2401 Bartelt Road in Iowa City displaced two people.

The Iowa City Fire Department responded to the fire at the Pheasant Ridge apartments at 7 a.m. The fire was contained to a bedroom, and damage from the fire was estimated to be $12,000, according to a release from the fire department.

The American Red Cross provided the displaced individuals, one adult and one child, with clothing, food and a place to stay, said Angela Jordan, CEO of the Grand Wood Chapter of the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire still is under investigation.
