House Fire Causes $100,000 In Damage

GREELEY -- A two-alarm house fire caused at least $100,000 in damage to a single-story story home in Greeley Thursday morning.

When firefighters were called at 10:30 a.m., they reported seeing heavy smoke from the fire when they were more than a mile away. The first firefighters reported flames poring from the house at 580316th St.

A second-alarm was called in for additional personnel and equipment to fight the fire, which was spreading rapidly, according to Division Chief Dale Lyman.

Harold and Nicole Potter told firefighters that everyone had gotten out of the house safely.

It took about an hour for fighters to extinguish the fire, Lyman said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the homeowners said the fire appeared to have started in a back bedroom.
