Early Morning Fire Causes Heavy Damage To Albany Home

The Albany Fire Department responded to 116 13th Ave NE at approximately 6:03 a.m. today to a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived at the scene within approximately four minutes to find single-family home heavily charged with smoke and fire.

The intense fire prevented firefighters from entering the home, so they proceeded to extinguish the fire from the exterior. Fire suppression operations lasted approximately one hour and forty-five minutes as fire fighters extinguished hidden fire in the walls and attic. It was later determined the occupant was not home at the time of the fire and no one was injured as a result of this fire.

Nineteen Fire Department personnel responded to the emergency call and the Albany Police Department also responded. Off duty Albany Fire Fighters and a Corvallis Fire Department fire engine responded to provide standby coverage in the City during the incident. The cause of this fire is currently under investigation. The home suffered significant fire damage; however, a dollar loss determination has not been made.
