Broken Pipe Floods Library

Water damage closes Manchester Library

Nov 26 2010, 4:06 PM

The Manchester Branch of Kitsap Regional Library will be closed until further notice while repairs are made to the facility because of water damage that occurred as a result of the recent storm and power outages.
The branch lost power and heat for two and a half days after the storm on Monday, Nov. 22.
When heat was restored, a water pipe that had frozen burst and flooded part of the library.
The damage is now being assessed. More information will be released when the full extent of the damage can be ascertained.
In the meantime, Manchester library patrons are urged to use the Port Orchard Branch of Kitsap Regional Library.
Materials that were being held on reserve for Manchester patrons will be moved to Port Orchard where they can be picked up.
No library service, not even the book drops, will be available at Manchester until further notice.
The Manchester Library building is owned by the Friends of Manchester Library, a 501c(3) non-profit corporation.
Library service is provided there by KRL under the terms of a formal agreement between KRL and Friends of Manchester Library.
