Woman Lives in Flooded Molded Apartment

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A water front apartment isn't what one Nashville woman was looking for, but that's just what she got in the form of water pouring out of her ceiling and down her walls.
The pictures taken with a friend's camera is the best way to explain the water pouring from the ceiling fan, down the wall and causing water pockets in her ceiling.
"The best way I can describe it is Niagara Falls," said Brandy Lawrence. "I literally had two water falls in here. One coming out of the ceiling fan, the other coming out of the ceiling."
Water started pouring out of the ceiling covering just about every inch of the floor in her apartment last Thursday morning.
"There was not a dry spot anywhere," said Lawrence as she showed pictures that revealed the footprint markings left by the socked carpet.
She said it started in her laundry room. Her apartment managers said the flood was caused by her upstairs neighbor in the Deerfield section of Nashboro Village.
Just looking around or even at the pictures, living here now could be difficult, but Brandy said her complex mangers thought differently, as she played a voice message stating they would allow her to move into another apartment, but it would be her responsibility to pay for moving.
"She said, 'that is your opinion that it's not livable,' those where her exact words to me," Lawrence said.
Lawrence said her problems did not start with the flooding. She says there was mold in her bathroom.
"It was black. solid black," added Lawrence.
She said it was again because of leakage from upstairs, and also caused health her health problems.
She said enough is enough and the fact that she is paying for something out of her control, she wants out, but tied to paying hundreds of dollars for what she calls poor service.
"Truthfully I want out of here," said a furious Lawrence. "I never want to look back. I never want to see this place again. I never want to be back here again."
NewsChannel 5 called the Nashboro Village Apartment office to ask about Brandy's problems and was told to leave a message with the Community Director, but calls were not returned as of Tuesday night.
Lawrence said she has renter's insurance to pay for the damage to her belongings.
As for her moving into a new apartment, Lawrence said she is told that could not happen until the December 15, forcing her to continue to stay with relatives.
